About Our Firm

Common Sense Retirement Planning's mission is to reduce financial fear in retirement. Our primary focus is retirement income strategies, and we aim to help provide retirees and pre-retirees with safety of assets, financial liquidity, favorable tax statuses, protection from nursing home expenses and probate and better-than-average returns.

We recognize the concern among seniors over outliving their retirement savings, and therefore, gain immense satisfaction from being able to create financial solutions for these wonderful people.  

Phillip Allen

Phillip Allen is co-host of Common Sense Retirement Planning. He has experience in the insurance and annuity industry and has been helping seniors make wise financial decisions for more than 30 years. He studied business administration at Bob Jones University before becoming licensed in the securities industry in 1983.

Phillip currently holds his life insurance licenses in the Carolinas and Georgia, as well as, Series 6, Series 26 and Series 63 securities registrations in these states. He is a registered principal for Capital Investment Group, which is the largest independent broker-dealer in the Carolinas, and is a local radio personality on news radio WORD 106.3 FM. He has also made appearances on local television stations, WLOS and WYFF.

Phillip lives near Furman University with his wife, Terri, and their three children. He and his family are active members of the Forestville Baptist Church, as well as supporters of Compassion International. Phillip is an avid hiker and backpacker, who always has his dog, Timber, by his side. He also enjoys hunting and riding his motorcycle.

Tony Dale

Tony Dale is a co-host of Common Sense Retirement Planning with 15 years experience in the insurance and annuity industry. He holds life and health insurance licenses in South Carolina and North Carolina, as well as Series 6 and Series 63 securities licenses in these states.
